Healthcare Design of the Future: CareConnect
As part of Georgia Tech's "Healthcare Design of the Future" course, I developed CareConnect, a mobile application aimed at enhancing communication between law enforcement officers and mental health crisis centers. This project was recognized for its excellence and selected for inclusion in the Georgia Tech School of Architecture's Archive, highlighting its contribution to innovative healthcare design.
Design Challenge
Law enforcement officers often serve as first responders during mental health crises, yet they frequently lack access to pertinent information about the individuals they assist. This gap can lead to impersonal interactions and extended processing times at crisis facilities. The challenge was to create a solution that facilitates the transfer of essential client information, ensuring a more personalized and efficient experience for all parties involved.
My Approach
Problem Exploration
Conducted in-depth research to understand the dynamics between law enforcement and mental health crisis centers, identifying key areas where communication could be improved.
User Persona Development
Created detailed user personas to represent both law enforcement officers and crisis center staff, guiding the design to meet their specific needs and challenges.
Branding and Visual Identity
Designed a cohesive logo and color scheme using Adobe Illustrator, establishing a visual identity that conveys trust and professionalism.
Wireframing and Prototyping
Utilized Figma to develop wireframes and interactive prototypes, focusing on intuitive navigation and user-friendly interfaces.
Stakeholder Testing
Conducted user testing sessions with stakeholders to gather feedback, ensuring the application met real-world requirements and expectations.
Presentation and Documentation
Produced a comprehensive video demonstration using Adobe Premiere Pro, effectively communicating the application's features and benefits.
Outcome
CareConnect offers a streamlined platform for law enforcement to share critical client information with mental health crisis centers ahead of arrival. This proactive communication fosters a more compassionate environment for individuals in crisis and reduces the time officers spend at the facility, allowing for more efficient resource allocation.
The project's selection for the Georgia Tech School of Architecture's Archive underscores its innovative approach to addressing complex challenges in healthcare design.
